Australian High Commissioner for the UK hosts ‘Friends of the Flying Doctor’ Reception

On 20 May 2015, the Hon. Alexander Downer AC, Australian High Commissioner hosted a reception at his private residence, Stoke Lodge, for UK supporters of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Guests were captivated by first-hand accounts of the day to day challenges faced by Royal Flying Doctor Service personnel in delivering a 24/7 service across outback Australia 365 days a year. The key theme was ‘expect the unexpected’.

Guests also enjoyed Moss Wood premium wines from West Australia. Moss Wood were generous wine sponsors of the Royal Flying Doctor Service Gala Dinner held on 13 November 2014 that raised over £100,000 for the Flying Doctor in Australia.

Peter Box, Chairman of the RFDS – Friends in the UK thanked all those present for their ongoing support of the Flying Doctor and encouraged all to support the next fundraising Dinner in 2016.
