Australian High Commissioner for the UK hosts RFDS reception
On 11 June 2014, the Hon. Alexander Downer AC, Australian High Commissioner hosted a reception at his private residence, Stoke Lodge, for supporters of the Royal Flying Doctor Service as a prelude to the Gala Dinner on 13 November 2014.
Guests were enthralled when hearing Captain Evans’ first-hand account of the dramatic successful landing of a QANTAS A380 aircraft when it suffered engine failure soon after taking off from Singapore airport in November 2010. Guests also enjoyed Moss Wood premium wines that will be served at the Gala Dinner on 13 November.
Peter Box, Chairman of the RFDS – Friends in the UK urged those present not to fall victim of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) because nearly all of the seats at the Gala Dinner have been sold. All present were further galvanised in the efforts to ensure the Gala Dinner at the Imperial War Museum, London on Thursday 13 November 2014 is a resounding success. Funds raised at the Gala Dinner will go toward much-needed medical and aeronautical equipment.
